The USA-TALK.DE forum

My forum, for over two decades, and why its knowledge lives on here.

USA-TALK.DE was my forum for over two decades. It went online in 1999, and over the years it grew into one of the biggest German-speaking gathering points for anyone planning a trip to the USA. I watched thousands of travellers plan their routes here, share insider tips, confess their mistakes and help each other through the anticipation. Many conversations turned into friendships that last to this day, my own among them.

I looked after the forum myself all those years. In 2022 I tried one more time to bring it back to life, but in 2023 I had to close it with a heavy heart. By then over 41,000 posts had accumulated, a treasure of real, lived travel experience that I did not want to simply disappear.

After more than two decades of lively discussions, helpful advice and great memories, we decided with a heavy heart to close the forum for good. From the USA-TALK.DE farewell message

I did not want to lose this knowledge. That is why it lives on here. Wherever you read real voices on my destination pages, they come from this archive. Anonymised, but at heart just as people wrote it back then. Not generic guidebook text, but what we actually experienced.
