In the USA you pay for almost everything by card. Still, there are a few things you should know, especially around tipping.
Card Beats Cash
Credit cards and often Apple or Google Pay are accepted practically everywhere, from the restaurant to the parking meter. A free credit card with no foreign transaction fee saves noticeable money over the trip. Some cash is still good to have, for tips and for tribal land like Monument Valley.
Tipping Is a Must, Not Optional
In restaurants 15 to 20 percent is customary and firmly expected, as the staff lives on it. When paying by card you write it in on the receipt. Taxi drivers, tour guides, and hotel housekeeping also receive tips.
Hidden Surcharges
Watch for two things: prices are almost always listed without tax, and local sales tax is added at the register. And hotels often charge a daily resort fee that is not in the room rate. Always check the total price.
Withdrawing Cash
Withdrawing at an ATM works but often costs a foreign fee. With the right card and larger amounts, that stays manageable.
