Atlanta is the secret capital of the American South: young, diverse and forever changing. This big city in Georgia has no old postcard motifs, but it does have a gleaming skyline and a history that shaped the whole country. Martin Luther King was born here, this is the birthplace of Coca-Cola, and one of the largest airports in the world sits here, often the gateway into the entire Southeast.

Civil rights history
In the Martin Luther King Jr. National Historical Park around Auburn Avenue you can see his birthplace, his church and his tomb. An impressive, moving chapter of American history.
The realm of Coca-Cola
At the World of Coca-Cola everything revolves around the most famous brand in the world, invented here in 1886. Right next door lies the Georgia Aquarium, one of the largest aquariums in the world.
Green and on the move
Atlanta is surprisingly green and is reinventing itself right now. The Atlanta BeltLine, an old railway line, is today a long park and cycle path, lined with street art, cafes and up-and-coming neighborhoods.
Gateway to the Southeast
With its huge airport, Atlanta is for many the entry point into the Southeast, and from here the Smokies, Savannah and Nashville are all easy to reach.
