Miami is sun, color and joy of life. The city at Florida's southern tip is American and at the same time strongly Latin American, with Cuban espresso, salsa and Spanish on every corner. Add the well-known Art Deco strip of Miami Beach, turquoise water and a nightlife that never quite comes to rest. And right outside the city the Everglades begin, a completely different, wild world.

Miami Beach and the Art Deco district
For visitors Miami Beach is the main thing, a city of its own on an offshore island. On Ocean Drive stand the pastel Art Deco hotels of the 1930s, bathed in neon at night. Add the wide, white South Beach with its colorful lifeguard huts.
Latin American flair
In Little Havana, around Calle Ocho, Miami's Cuban heart beats: cigar rollers, domino players in the park, cafecito at every counter. In the Wynwood arts district, huge murals turn whole streets into an open-air gallery.
The Everglades on the doorstep
Just under an hour's drive to the west, Everglades National Park begins, a vast swamp and grassland full of alligators and birds. An airboat tour or a walk on the boardwalks is a good contrast to the city bustle.
Gateway to the Keys
From Miami the Overseas Highway runs out over countless bridges onto the Florida Keys all the way to Key West. If you have time, you should definitely add this island chain.
